Frequently Asked Questions

The questions we get asked most. If yours isn't here, call us before you load — we'd rather answer a quick question than deal with a costly removal for either of us.

Delivery & Pickup

How do I schedule a dumpster delivery?

The fastest way is to book online — pick your size, rental length and delivery day, and you'll see the exact price before you pay. You can also give us a call. We'll confirm your delivery window, placement location, and rental period. We recommend having a clear, accessible spot ready — driveway or curbside — before we arrive.

What size container do I need?

Our 10-yard is great for small cleanouts and single-room renovations. The 12- and 15-yard containers work well for medium projects like bathroom or kitchen remodels. The 20-yard is ideal for full house cleanouts, roofing tear-offs, or larger construction debris. Not sure? We're happy to help you pick the right size.

How long is the rental period?

We offer standard rentals of 3 day, 7 day or 14-day. Extended rental periods are available — just let us know at the time of booking or call us before your pickup date.

Can I place the dumpster in the street?

In most towns, yes, but only with the town's permission, and a few towns do not allow it at all. Getting any street permit is your responsibility. We recommend the driveway whenever possible: it avoids the street permit and protects the road surface. Wherever it sits, the state fire code requires a fire department permit for any dumpster over 6 cubic yards left overnight (every size we rent), and many of the towns we serve add a permit of their own, even on a driveway. Our dumpster permit guide has each town's rule.

Loading & Prohibited Materials

Can I put a mattress or box spring in the dumpster?

No — mattresses and box springs are not accepted in any container. If placed in the rental, any surcharges from the dumping facility will be passed on to the customer.

Can I put leaves, grass clippings or brush in the dumpster?

No. Yard waste cannot go in one of our containers. Leaves, grass clippings and brush are banned from disposal in Massachusetts, so they need to go to a compost site or your town's yard waste collection instead.

Can I put clothes, shoes or linens in the dumpster?

No. Textiles cannot go in one of our containers. Clothing, shoes, bedding, towels and curtains have been banned from disposal in Massachusetts since November 2022, so they need to go to a donation bin or a textile recycler instead, even if they are worn, torn or stained. Furniture, rugs and carpet are not part of that ban and can go in the container as usual.

What items are NOT allowed in the dumpster?

The following items are strictly prohibited:

  • Paint, solvents, chemicals
  • Oil, gasoline, fuel
  • Propane & gas tanks
  • Pesticides & herbicides
  • Asbestos-containing materials
  • TVs, computers, e-waste
  • Refrigerators & freezers
  • Air conditioners (freon units)
  • Tires — no exceptions
  • Dirt, soil, gravel, stone, masonry
  • Concrete & bricks
  • Leaves, grass, brush & yard waste
  • Medical / biohazard waste
  • Mattresses & box springs
  • Clothing, shoes, linens & textiles

If you're unsure about an item, call us before loading it.

What happens if a prohibited item is found in the dumpster?

Any item found in the container that is not permitted under your signed rental agreement will result in a $200 removal fee, in addition to any surcharges passed on from the disposal facility. If the item requires transport to a specialized disposal site, an hourly labor and trucking rate of $80/hr will also apply on top of the base $200 fee.

Can I put concrete, bricks, or dirt in the dumpster?

No. These materials cannot go to a standard landfill and require transport to a landscape or construction debris facility. If found in the container, they will be removed at a rate of $80/hr for trucking and labor, plus the $200 prohibited-item fee. If you have a significant amount of these materials, contact us in advance — we may be able to make separate arrangements.

Are facility surcharges passed on to me?

Yes. If the disposal facility assesses any surcharge due to materials found in your container that violate their acceptance policies, those costs will be passed on to you in full. This is in addition to our own prohibited-item fee.

Can I overfill the container?

No. For safety and DOT compliance, all materials must be at or below the top rim of the container. Overfilled dumpsters cannot be legally transported. We reserve the right to leave an overfilled container until materials are brought to the fill line, and additional pickup/trip fees may apply.

Billing & Policies

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept credit and debit cards. A $19 booking fee is charged when you book online — it covers fuel, driver time and holding your slot and is separate from the rental price. The full rental total is then due on delivery day. A valid card on file is required to cover any surcharges that arise after pickup.

Can I change or cancel my delivery date?

You can change your delivery date free of charge with at least 48 hours’ notice — just call us. The $19 booking fee itself is non-refundable, because it covers holding the slot and turning away other work for that day. Inside 48 hours we will still do our best to move you, but if the truck is already loaded and routed a trip fee may apply.

What if I need the dumpster longer than expected?

No problem — call us before your scheduled pickup and we'll extend your rental. Extended rental is $25/day. Don't wait until the day of pickup to reach out.

How much weight is included?

Each size includes a tonnage allowance — see container sizes for the exact figure. Weight over the included allowance is billed at $25 per 0.1 ton, charged to the card on file after the container is weighed at the disposal facility.
