If you are clearing out a house in Arlington, stripping a bathroom, or finally dealing with the garage, you need a container on the driveway and a firm date for it to leave again. That is the whole job we do.
Dense for our area, with two-family housing and one-car driveways, so the 10 and 12 yard do most of the work. Arlington does not allow dumpsters on the street, so everything has to fit on the lot. We come in off Route 60 or Massachusetts Avenue.
Steve owns the trucks and answers the phone. For an Arlington customer that means the price you see when you book is the price you pay, and any question about the job goes to someone who has actually been on it.
Home cleanouts and decluttering in Arlington
Cleanouts are the most common reason people in Arlington call us, and they are also the job most likely to be underestimated. A single garage rarely fills a container on volume — but add the basement, the shed and thirty years of furniture and it adds up faster than anyone expects. If you are clearing a whole property, start at the 15-yard.
Town Day on Massachusetts Avenue
Arlington Town Day closes a long stretch of Massachusetts Avenue in September and fills it with music and vendors, and it is the busiest day of the year in the center. The Minuteman Bikeway runs the length of the town from Alewife toward Lexington, and Spy Pond sits alongside it. The housing runs from Victorian two-families near the Cambridge line to smaller postwar streets up the hill toward the Heights.
- Arlington Town Day A Saturday in September, Massachusetts Avenue. The center closes to traffic for the day.
- Feast of the East Summer, East Arlington.
- Arlington Farmers Market Wednesday afternoons, June to October.
Driveways here are narrow and often shared, and a lot of streets have permit parking. The container has to fit on the property here, since the town keeps dumpsters off the street. Tell us the driveway size when you book and we will match the box to it.

The most common mistake on an Arlington job is ordering one size too small. Not sure? The item picker and the weight, roofing, drywall and deck calculators work it out in a minute, free.
Getting the truck in
Most Arlington deliveries are a driveway drop and take a few minutes. What slows one down is access: a gate nobody has the key for, a vehicle parked in the spot, or an address that turns out to be the office rather than the site. Those three account for nearly every wasted trip we make.
Arlington requires an Inspectional Services Department permit for every temporary dumpster, driveways included, on top of the fire department permit the state fire code requires. Arlington does not allow dumpsters on the street. Getting the Inspectional Services Department and fire permits is the customer's responsibility, so apply before delivery day. The dumpster permit guide lists this rule and its source next to every other town we serve. If you are unsure whether your spot works, describe it in the notes when you book and we will tell you before the truck is loaded.
What can go in
Household junk, furniture, wood, drywall, roofing and metal are all fine. Hazardous material, tires, electronics, appliances containing refrigerants, mattresses, clothing and other textiles, masonry and yard waste are not. The full lists are on the FAQ page, and they are worth two minutes before you load: a prohibited item carries a $200 removal fee plus whatever the disposal facility charges us.
Asbestos and hazardous material
Asbestos cannot go in the container, and that one is not a fee - no Massachusetts facility can accept it, so a load with it in cannot be tipped anywhere. Worth knowing here, because much of Arlington's housing predates the 1980s. If the building dates from before 1980 and you are disturbing siding, roofing, floor tile, pipe insulation or old plaster, test it before you load anything. A newer building is not automatically clear either - MassDEP identifies suspect material by what it is, not by the year the building went up, so if you are unsure about something, have it tested. Arlington questions
How much does a dumpster cost in Arlington?
The same as everywhere else we serve. Prices start at $475 and include delivery, pickup and disposal; the only other charge is the $19 booking fee, shown before you pay. There is no haul charge and no percentage added at the end.
Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Arlington?
On your own driveway you need the fire department's dumpster permit and an Inspectional Services Department permit. The state fire code requires the first for any dumpster over 6 cubic yards that stays overnight. In Arlington, the Inspectional Services Department requires a permit for every temporary dumpster, private property included. Arlington does not allow dumpsters on the street. Getting the Inspectional Services Department and fire permits is the customer's responsibility, so apply before delivery day.
How long can I keep the dumpster in Arlington?
Three, seven or fourteen days, chosen when you book. The 7-day is only $25 more than the 3-day on every size we run, which is almost always worth it. If you need longer once it is on site, extra days are $25 each.
