Access and permits
We need roughly the length of two parked cars plus room for the truck to back straight in, and clear space overhead for the hoist. Most Burlington driveways manage that easily; the ones that do not are usually the short, steep or shared kind, and those are worth flagging.
Putting the container on a public way commonly requires a permit from the town, which the customer arranges. Keeping it on private property avoids the question entirely.
What we can and cannot take
The prohibited list is not arbitrary. Mattresses, textiles, electronics, tires and masonry are banned from disposal in Massachusetts under the state waste bans, so the facility rejects the load rather than us. General household debris, furniture, wood, drywall, roofing and metal are all fine. The item picker flags the restricted ones as you tap them.
Asbestos and hazardous material
Asbestos cannot go in the container, and that one is not a fee - no Massachusetts facility can accept it, so a load with it in cannot be tipped anywhere. If the building dates from before 1980 and you are disturbing siding, roofing, floor tile, pipe insulation or old plaster, test it before you load anything. A newer building is not automatically clear either - MassDEP identifies suspect material by what it is, not by the year the building went up, so if you are unsure about something, have it tested.
