Selling a house in Dracut? A cleared property photographs better, shows better, and stops a buyer's inspector writing paragraphs about clutter in the mechanical room.
A mix of farmland and subdivision with good driveway room in most of it, tighter along the Lowell line. Up 495 then across, or through Tewksbury.
Steve owns the trucks and answers the phone. For a Dracut customer that means the price you see when you book is the price you pay, and any question about the job goes to someone who has actually been on it.
Listing prep and move-outs in Dracut
Listing work in Dracut runs on somebody else's calendar. Photos are booked, the open house is set, and the container has to be gone before either. Take the 7-day rather than the 3-day: it is $25 more on every size we run and it buys back the weekend you would otherwise spend watching the clock.
Old Home Day and a working dairy
Dracut still farms. Shaw Farm has been a working dairy on New Boston Road for over a century and sells its own milk and ice cream from the farm store. Old Home Day brings the town out in September, and the Dracut State Forest keeps a large block of woods and trails in the middle of everything. The town runs from farmland on the north side down to streets that feel like an extension of Lowell on the south.
- Dracut Old Home Day September, Veterans Memorial Park. Parade, food and fireworks.
- Shaw Farm Year round, New Boston Road.
- Dracut State Forest Year round.
Most of Dracut has proper driveway room and takes any size. Nearer the Lowell line the lots tighten up and the smaller containers place better.

What a dumpster costs, every fee included ›
Ordering one size too small is the costly mistake on a Dracut job, because a second haul costs more than the step up. The item picker and the weight, roofing, drywall and deck calculators help you avoid it.
Choosing the spot
Flat and paved beats everything. A loaded dumpster concentrates several tons onto four small contact points, so gravel, soft ground and freshly sealed asphalt all deserve a mention when you book, and plywood under the rails solves most of it.
Under the state fire code, any dumpster over 6 cubic yards that stays overnight needs a fire department permit, on a driveway too, and that covers every size we rent. In Dracut, the Board of Health lists a temporary dumpster permit in its fee schedule but publishes no rule saying who needs one, so ask the Board of Health. A dumpster on a town street needs a permit from the Department of Public Works, which cannot issue one for the state roads (Routes 38, 110 and 113); for those, ask MassDOT. Getting any permit is the customer's responsibility. The dumpster permit guide lists this rule and its source next to every other town we serve. Beyond that, just leave the space clear that morning.
Loading the container
Load heavy material low and flat, keep everything below the rim, and set aside anything on the prohibited list before you start rather than after. Mattresses, old clothes and linens, tires, paint, electronics, appliances with refrigerant and yard waste all need a different route, and a prohibited item found at the gate carries a $200 fee. The full lists live on the FAQ page.
Suspect material such as old siding, floor tile, pipe insulation or plaster should be tested for asbestos before it comes off, and a newer building is not automatically clear. Asbestos cannot go in the dumpster at any price. What we cannot take ›
Dracut questions
How much does a dumpster cost in Dracut?
Dracut pays the same rates as every town we serve, starting at $475 with delivery, pickup and disposal included. The extras are listed up front: the $19 booking fee, and fees for going over the weight, keeping it longer or loading a prohibited item.
Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Dracut?
On your own driveway you need the fire department's dumpster permit: the state fire code requires one for any dumpster over 6 cubic yards that stays overnight, and every size we rent is 10 yards or more.
Will the truck damage my driveway in Dracut?
A loaded container puts several tons onto four small contact points, so on new asphalt, sealed surfaces or gravel it is worth saying so when you book. Plywood under the rails spreads the load and prevents marking. Tell us in the placement notes and we will plan for it rather than discover it on delivery day.
